GETTING TO KNOW THE STURGEON BETTER

Thesturgeon is a carnivorous fish that feeds on worms, insect larvae, molluscs and other small fish. Thanks to its four barbs under its elongated mouth, it is able to search for food on the seabed. It prefers murky waters and sandy bottoms, even up to 150 metres deep, with slow currents: in short, it loves peace and quiet.

HOW DO YOU FISH FOR STURGEON?

HOW DO YOU FISH FOR STURGEON?

  1. Sturgeon fishing requires patience, knowledge of the fish's behaviour and the use of specific techniques to be successful.
  2. The best places to fish for sturgeon are sport fishing lakes, which have become the main areas in recent years. Although rarer, they can be found in some rivers, but river fishing is less common due to restrictions and reduced wild populations.
  3. Efficient feeding: The sturgeon, nicknamed the 'hoover of the bottom', responds well to good feeding. Use wheat seed, maize, hemp, or halibut boilies and pellets, which are rich in fish oils.
