Boiles dumbel

Dumbell boilies represent a revolution in the world of sport fishing, especially for those who are fond of carp and other freshwater fish. These baits have a cylinder shape with rounded ends, similar to gym dumbbells, from which they take their name dumbell. This particular shape not only makes them visually different from traditional baits, but also offers significant advantages in terms of effectiveness and attractiveness.

Let's find out together why dumbells have become a must-have for every experienced angler!

CHARACTERISTICS OF DUMBELL BOILIES

For fish, dumbell baits are more difficult to eat than round baits due to their shape, density and method of use.

  • Shape and Movement. The shape of dumbell boiles makes them more difficult for fish to handle than round baits: unlike spherical baits, dumbells do not move predictably through the water, making them a more complex bait for prey to catch. This is particularly advantageous in busy waters where fish are used to seeing round baits and may be wary.

  • Density and Differentiation. Dumbells have a variable density, so they are more difficult for fish to distinguish between different baits in the water and increase the chances of catching them.
  • Introduction into the water. Due to their irregular shape, dumbell lures cannot be cast as far as easily as round lures, but they are ideal for casting at short distances, as their shape and density causes less disturbance on impact on the water. For throwing dumbell lures long distances, it is recommended to use a spomb, which is the most effective method for reaching distant spots.

Dumbell baits can either sink or float, depending on the specific type of bait used:

  1. Standard dumbell boiles. These baits are generally sinking. Their shape and density make them difficult for fish to eat and they are ideal for use in combination with other baits to create a varied mix that attracts fish.
  2. Dumbell wafters. These baits are designed to be semi-floating. The wafters are made from a semi-floating mix that allows the bait to float above the lake bottom and, by balancing perfectly with the weight of the hook, creates a more natural and attractive bait for fish.

ADVANTAGES OF DUMBELL BOILIES

  • Dumbells offer numerous advantages, especially in busy waters.

The different shape and weight from more common baits gives fish something different to deal with and reduces their mistrust.

  • Dumbell are particularly effective when used in combination with other baits, such as particles or crumbled baits in a spod mix, because they add a variation to the bait that can be used in a baited area.
  • Dumbell boilies are excellent for stalking fishing, as fish often avoid round baits at close range.

  • Dumbells can be used either whole or broken into small pieces together with other mixes.
